try!

it’s insane how many opportunities slip away from us simply because we don’t try.

i was part of a fully funded trip to the arctic game development conference 2025 in sweden — an opportunity originally meant for only three people. afraid of the competition such a chance would attract, i hesitated but applied anyway.

turns out, only five people applied — and i was one of them. the organizers had planned to fund just three, but due to the low number of applicants, the project funders extended the opportunity to all five of us. interestingly, we were all coursemates, even though the opportunity had been open to the entire school.

in conversations with classmates, i realized many had the same fear that almost held me back. the difference? they let it stop them.

that experience taught me something valuable: we often get so fixated on the outcome that we fail to take action, overwhelmed by how competitive, difficult, or unattainable something seems.

but here’s the thing — just take the step. make the attempt and detach from the outcome. you’ll be fine either way. and who knows? you might just get exactly what you wanted.

oh yeah, that’s me in the middle — always the center of attraction 😀
