Conversations with Mr. X, pt. 2
Remember Mr. X?
Well, after several conversations and at lunch break, he revealed that he’s working in the aerospace industry as a Software Developer. I didn’t pry — that’s not my style — but I like to think I’m a great listener.
To be a Developer in the aerospace industry, you have to undergo months of training. This reduces your chances of being easily laid off, as most companies would rather retain existing staff than go through the hassle of hiring and training new people. Not to mention the time and money involved. While job security is often a fallacy, if you’re a Developer in that field, you’d be inclined to believe otherwise.
“If you ever need anything, even cash, you can always reach out to me,” he said.
“Just focus on your studies.”
In my mind, I was thinking, “That’s never going to happen.”
“Thanks for the offer. I appreciate it,” I replied.
Anyway, it’s nice knowing that someone has your back, whether or not you actually want them to.
